Quad ABA’s mission is to redefine what ABA can and should be. We provide ethical, neurodiversity-affirming services that prioritize autonomy, dignity, and meaningful progress over compliance. Through true collaboration with families, we empower children to build the skills they need to navigate the world safely, confidently, and as their authentic selves.
ABA is a science-based approach to understanding how people learn and behave. At Quad ABA, we use ABA to help children build meaningful skills like communication, independence, play, and social connection.
At its core, ABA looks at behavior and the consequences that follow it.
In ABA, a consequence is simply what happens after a behavior. It is not inherently negative.
Consequences fall into two main categories:
“Punishing” does not mean harsh, negative, or harmful. It simply means the behavior becomes less likely in the future.
through these types of consequences.
For example:
We carefully design environments and responses so children can:
We practice ABA differently—intentionally and unapologetically
We prioritize quality over volume
We respect each child’s identity, autonomy, and voice
We do not target harmless behaviors simply because they look different
We measure success by real-life impact, not compliance
We are not in the business of changing who a child is.
We are here to support who they are becoming.
Quad ABA primarily serves young learners, because early support can create powerful, lasting foundations for communication, independence, and confidence
We focus on skills that actually matter in daily life, including:
If it doesn’t improve your child’s real-world experience, it doesn’t belong at the center of our work.
You are not on the sidelines.
You are an equal member of the team.
Too often, parents are made to feel like passive observers. That is not how we operate. You bring expertise about your child. We bring clinical knowledge. Progress happens when those two things work together. We provide hands-on support, training, and honest collaboration so you feel confident, informed, and respected every step of the way.
Services can take place anywhere your child naturally spends time, including: •Your home • Community settings •Daycare or childcare environments The only exception is that insurance-funded services cannot occur in a public-school setting. A responsible adult (18+) must be present during all sessions.
We use a HIPPA compliant online data collection and analyzation platform to track data on every child’s goals. We use this data to guide decisions, not to define your child.
Progress is measured by:
If a skill only exists at a table during a session, it’s not truly learned. We build skills that carry over into everyday life.
Quad ABA is currently credentialed and in-network with Connecticut Medicaid (HUSKY).
We are actively in the review process with Anthem BCBS, Aetna and Cigna to become an in-network provider. Updates regarding when the credentialing process is complete with each of these insurers will be provided as soon as they are available. We are also happy to help families navigate the insurance process so you are not left figuring it out alone.
ABA is one tool, not the only tool. If it is not the right fit, we will be honest about that and help guide you toward other supports.
Ethical care means prioritizing what is right for your child, not what fills a schedule.
Stimming is not a problem to fix.
It is often a critical form of self-regulation, expression, and comfort.
We do not target stimming unless:
Our role is to support regulation and understanding—not to make children appear more “typical.”
There is no standard prescription. Research shows that children receiving at least 10 hours of service per week, consistently, show better rates of skill acquisition and the most meaningful improvements in behavioral concerns. However, 10 hours of service per week may not be appropriate for all children or families. At Quad ABA, we will be honest regarding the prescribed number of service hours and explain why that level of intensity is recommended.
to find a schedule that is appropriate for your insurance provider and for your family. Recommendations are based on:
More hours does not equal better care. Consistent, intentional and meaningful hours do.
Those concerns exist for a reason, and they deserve to be taken seriously.
ABA has a history that includes overly rigid, compliance-focused practices. Some of those experiences have been harmful. Ignoring or dismissing the experiences of those autistic individuals who have voiced their concerns would be irresponsible.
At Quad ABA, we are guided by those voices and committed to learning from them. We can do better because we know better.
At the same time, we are honest about the reality that some forms of compliance are necessary for safety and daily life.
These are not negotiable because the risks of not doing them are too high.
At Quad ABA, we do not stop at “they need to comply.” We ask: Why is this hard? Why is this aversive? What’s getting in the way?
Let’s be honest, every adult complies with things they don’t enjoy every day. The difference is, we understand the “why” and the consequences.
Our job is to help children get there in a way that is supportive, respectful, and sustainable.
“ABA Differently” is not a slogan. It is a commitment to doing this work in a way that is ethical, thoughtful, and aligned with real life.
